Site Assessment and Value Strategies

Our senior consultants and managers are experienced in assessing the risk of contaminated properties, defining data gaps and solutions, and in determining the potential value gained from remedial strategies. Our team helps define the problem then develop and manage strategies to minimize or eliminate the environmental liability. Services we provide:
  • Define client goals and objectives such as the need to establish baseline soil and groundwater conditions, or to develop timelines for remediation, closure and/or divestiture;
  • Identify and characterize local and regional groundwater resources and uses;
  • Compile, organize and evaluate existing property environmental and analytical data;
  • Design and construct databases for management of water and environmental data; provide user-friendly data entry interfaces and data export (reporting) features;
  • Identify applicable regulations, and stakeholder agencies’ cleanup requirements;
  • Develop Site Conceptual Models and identify any data gaps;
  • Develop Site Assessment work scopes and budgets including data collection methods;
  • Obtain necessary environmental permits, and develop and provide required public notifications;
  • Prepare bid documents and oversee subcontractors, and interface with regulatory personnel;
  • Installation and monitoring of groundwater wells;
  • Provide necessary technical support in negotiating favorable pricing in property acquisitions or divestitures;

Risk-Based Decision Making and Forensic Evaluation

Through logic, problem solving, and application of varied skills, EnviroSolve assists clients in moving properties from environmental liability to valued asset. To arrive at effective solutions, EnviroSolve relies on innovative technical approaches to data evaluation coupled with risk-based decision making. EnviroSolve’s approaches are valuable for clients who may be faced with complex contamination issues such as commingled plumes, various historic site owners and uses, and the need to develop fair and technically defensible cost allocation strategies. To accomplish these goals, EnviroSolve has developed and uses:
  • Forensic methods including the use of geochemical markers such as stable isotopes and ratios of analytes to determine water and contaminant sources;
  • Regulatory based risk model that evaluates the efficacy and cost of remediation strategies in light of regulatory requirements;
  • Groundwater thermal data analysis to determine effectiveness and likelihood of on-going bioremediation;
  • Evaluation of current and planned land use to define potential health risks;
  • Evaluation of the efficacy of previously developed site remedial plans and strategies, and development of remedial risk strategies based on planned or possible future use and ownership, and transactional timeframe;
  • Health Risk Assessments (HRA); indoor air monitoring and data evaluation, where applicable.

Remediation and Site Closure

When remediation is required, EnviroSolve’s technical and management expertise focuses on risk-based remediation strategies that expedite and provide regulatory approved closures. EnviroSolve understands that site closure is the ultimate goal of most projects. We prepare closure documents, meet with regulatory agencies, and ensure that closure is accomplished to the complete satisfaction of our clients and appropriate regulatory agencies. EnviroSolve’s staff is experienced in a variety of remediation approaches that focus on rapid closure. Our capabilities include:
  • Development of a proprietary model that assesses closure readiness based on environmental characteristics, groundwater modelling data (e.g., contaminant levels, trends and plume analysis), regulatory setting, current and expected remediation costs, and likelihood of natural attenuation success;
  • Regulatory liaison and negotiations;
  • Development of closure requests that meet the client’s budget and timing restraints, including closures relying solely on bioremediation and monitored natural attenuation (MNA);
  • Development of required documents such as comprehensive Conceptual Site Models, Remedial Action Plans (RAPs), Corrective Action Plans, Remediation Workplans, and associated cost estimates;
  • Development of bid documents; contractor selection and oversight; Health and Safety Management;
  • Construction oversight: excavation or installation of remedial systems including: soil vapor extraction (SVE) and treatment, air sparging (O2 and ozone) and stripping, in-situ chemical oxidation, bioremediation, and groundwater extraction and treatment;
  • O&M of remedial systems including compliance sampling and analysis, routine reporting and permit maintenance.
